Export Incentive Calculator — RoDTEP & MEIS

Estimate your RoDTEP export incentive for a single shipment or multiple line items from FOB value and rate. Also includes a reference calculator for the discontinued MEIS scheme.

RoDTEP Incentive Calculator

RoDTEP (Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products) rates are notified per HS code / product category by DGFT and are revised from time to time. Always confirm the current rate and any per-unit value cap for your exact HS code on the official DGFT / ICEGATE RoDTEP schedule before relying on this figure for costing or accounting.

How RoDTEP works

RoDTEP refunds embedded, non-creditable central, state and local duties/taxes on inputs consumed in export production (like fuel used in transport, electricity duties and mandi tax) that are not refunded under any other mechanism (such as GST refund or duty drawback). The benefit is issued as a transferable electronic duty credit scrip that can be used to pay basic customs duty on future imports, or transferred/sold to another importer.

Frequently asked questions

What is RoDTEP?

RoDTEP (Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products) is a scheme that refunds embedded central, state and local duties and taxes on inputs used in export production that are not refunded through any other mechanism, issued as a transferable electronic duty credit scrip.

Is MEIS still active?

No. MEIS was discontinued for exports made on or after 1 January 2021 and was replaced by RoDTEP.

How is the RoDTEP benefit calculated?

It is generally calculated as a percentage of the FOB value of the exported product, using the rate notified for that item's HS code, subject to any per-unit value cap notified for that item.

Can one shipment have multiple RoDTEP rates?

Yes — if your invoice or shipping bill has more than one product/HS code, each line item can carry a different RoDTEP rate. Use the "Multiple items" mode above to calculate each line separately and get a combined total.

Important

This tool gives a simple estimate for planning purposes only. It is not tax, customs or legal advice, and does not replace the official DGFT notifications, RoDTEP rate schedule, or your customs broker's calculation. Eligibility, exclusions (e.g. SEZ/EOU units, certain export categories) and exact rates depend on your specific HS code and shipment details.
